Grand Cards: Mail Day!

Mail Day!

It's been a long time since I've had one of these. That's what happens when 1) You leave for two weeks and have your mail held, 2) You stop trading cards, almost entirely and 3) you stop buying cards, almost entirely. Well no more! Two nice packages arrived at my door the other day--one expected and one entirely not.

The first package was my take from Thorzul's $5.50 group break. This provided cards from such prestigious brands as 2004 Upper Deck Power Up!, 1999 Upper Deck MVP, 1998 UD Collector's Choice, 1999 Stadium Club, mid-90s Score and more! You can see his pick of the litter, which terrified me from the moment I saw it. Thankfully, it was just his personal favorite and not the "best" card of the bunch. I've got another take--here are some of my favorites from the break:

Does this card embody Tiger futility of the era or what? That's Tony Clark, who in my non-professional opinion, clearly just got jammed on a pitch and is about to weakly ground out to first. His face tells you the truth: "Oof! Oh man, I'm screwed."

Here's a card that I actually don't like that much because it pulls the ol' visual switcheroo on you:

Hey, what a cool card of Jim Thome! Also, what the hell is even going on here? Why is the ball behind him? Where is this picture being taken from?? I feel very disoriented.

The last one that I'm going to show off is my favorite of the whole bunch. You can guess why in the comments. I'll withhold commentary, as I plan on posting about this card again in the near future:

Sweet.

Onto the second package. This one is short, sweet, holiday themed and lovely.

It's a Christmas wish from Baseball Dad! Oh, and is that one of my favorite Granderson cards of all time attached? Why yes, yes it is!

Thanks for the holiday wishes and the gift!

That's all for now folks, stay tuned for more on my favorite card of the Thorzul bunch in the next day or two.
